The portability of being able to talk to people from almost anywhere.  I find the  built  in camera  (and video too) of a cell phone useful to capture ideas (like the  pocket  camcorder, but not as  dedicated to the tasks) and it also has many  features to help  capture ideas.  I am not going to  even try to advise on types of  phones or service  plans available.
